YOUNGSTOWN - It took senior leadership to break the Horizon League's best defensive team.
Youngstown State seniors Blake Allen and Damian Eargle combined for 35 points as the Penguins beat co-Horizon League leader Wright State Wednesday at the Beeghly Center, 68-61.
Eargle, a Warren G. Harding graduate, scored 18 points - including 10 in the second half.
Allen had 17, including 10 in the second stanza. Kendrick Perry finished with 14 points for the Penguins.
YSU (11-8, 3-3 Horizon League) had a pair of 8-0 runs to roll the Penguins to their second straight victory.
In the second half, YSU shot 57.1 percent from the floor, while Wright State (14-6, 5-2) was 14 of 37.
YSU held a 35-33 lead early in the second half, but 3-pointers by Perry and D.J. Cole helped push the Penguins' advantage to 43-33.

Wright State pulled within seven points on three occasions in the last three minutes, including the final margin, but could not get any closer.
The Penguins host Cleveland State Saturday, starting at 2:05 p.m.
