YOUNGSTOWN - Dorothy L. Collings, 94, formerly of Niles, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman.
She was born May 9, 1918, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Cornelius and Mary Dagnan Pelton.
Dorothy was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was a member of the First Christian Church of Niles.
She worked for 10 years as a sales associate for Carlisle Allen Department Store.
She enjoyed cooking, counted cross stitching, gardening, reading, being with her family, volunteer work for her church, dancing (especially to polka music) and going on vacations to Hawaii. She was an excellent baker.
Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Sam E. (Becky) Collings of Brookfield, Terry L. (Bonnie) Collings of Austintown and David P. (Marilyn) Collings of Streetsboro; nine grandchildren, Kathy and Kim of North Carolina, Brian and Brandon of Brookfield, Aaron (Jamie) of Painesville, Noel (Chelsea) of Georgia, Jared of Florida, Rick of North Carolina and Ryan (Amy) of North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; and close friends Sadie Kaya of Hawaii and Betty Nobile of Boardman.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel L. Collings, whom she married in 1938 and who died in 1992; second husband, Charles R. Bosley, whom she married in 1994 and who died in 2008; brothers, Edward Pelton and George Pelton; and a sister, Margaret M. Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles. Her grandson, Pastor Aaron M. Taylor, will officiate. Calling hours will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
