FOWLER - Julie Ann Franks, 55, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday evening, Jan. 19, 2013.
She was born April 29, 1957, in Warren, the daughter of the late Julius Nyako and the late Jennie Bunko Nyako.
Julie had worked for Dr. Antonious Hadi for 12 years and Drs. Kerns and Mondary before making a decision to put her work on hold to care for her sick mother, who needed constant attention. After the passing of her mother, Julie decided to be a stay-home mom for her daughter. As a homemaker, Julie loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed camping and boating, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Donald W. Franks, and her beloved daughter of 28 years, Sarah Nicole Franks. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert (Lena) Nyako of Champion and Donald (Cynthia) Nyako of Lake Milton; and her sister, Dianne (Ronald) Broadway of Hendersonville, N.C.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Julius Nyako on Jan. 2, 1979; her mother, Jennie Nyako on March 22, 2010; and by a brother, Richard Nyako.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
