WARREN - Sheila "Joan" Bogdan, 73, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan.15, 2013, at Windsor House in Champion.
She was born March 30, 1939, in Warren, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Goia Bogdan.
Joan was a member of Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church in Warren.
Joan was a graduate of the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1964. She went on to work at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in the maternity ward for 20 years.
Because of her battle with rheumatoid arthritis since she was a teen, her career in nursing ended in 1984. Following her retirement, Joan was still a nurse, caring for her elderly mother.
Though she never married nor had any children of her own, Joan loved babies.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Mahan of Bristolville; her niece, Barbara (Dale) Obringer of Freeport, Pa.; her two nephews, John (Linda) Mahan of Bristolville and Rob (Linda) Mahan of Redwood City, Calif.; two great-nephews, Michael (Courtney) Mahan of Bristolville and Kyle (companion Kristen) Mahan of Burlingame, Calif.; and her dear friend and neighbor, Pennie Leek.
Other than her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, John Bogdan; infant brother, Victor Bogdan; and sister, Sylvia Walton.
Cremation will take place and her remains will be buried in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren.
