MINERAL RIDGE John Dale Ashbridge, 70, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Mineral Ridge.
He was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Rochester, Pa., the son of John and Mildred Hunston Ashbridge.
John grew up in East Palestine, graduating from East Palestine High School in 1961. After receiving his degree from Youngstown State University, he served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968, achieving the rank of sergeant.
Upon leaving the Army, John worked at Republic Steel and purchased Webb's Ice Cream in Hubbard, later opening two additional locations as well as a video store.
John enjoyed movies, music, poker, sports, swimming and time with family.
He is survived by his sons, John Hunston (Kristen) Ashbridge of Los Angeles, Daniel Allan (Amanda) Ashbridge of Cincinnati and David Elliott Ashbridge of Charleston, S.C.; his grandson, Keston David Ashbridge; his brother, Gilbert R. (Deb) of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Patricia (Kubler) Ashbridge; his girlfriend, Ruth Rutherford; and five nephews and nieces.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter Ashbridge.
Arrangements were handled by the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home in East Palestine.
