NILES - Fred Kuhn, 75, of Hickory Lane S.W., Warren, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Fred was born Sept. 12, 1937, in Girard, the son of H. Sherman and Margaret Eleanor Greathouse Kuhn.
He had been employed by the former Allied Metals for 26 1/2 years, until the closing in 1984, as a crane man and saw operator.
A woodworker, he enjoyed playing guitar and creating music.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in both the Korean War and Vietnam War.
His wife, the former Dixie Lee Breedlove, whom he married March 25, 1961, preceded him in death March 19, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his five brothers, Virgil, Raymond, Sam, Jack and Clyde "Jake" Kuhn; a sister, Rosie Kuhn; three nephews, Bobby Lee Binion, Raymond "Junie" Kuhn and Fred O'Neil Hodge Jr.; an infant nephew, Chester Sayre; and a niece, Terry Lee Moyers.
Fred is survived by three sisters, Betty Hodge of Dalton, Ga., Nancy (Terry) Snyder of Austintown and Goldie (Glen) Creech of McDonald; and several nieces and nephews, which include nieces Barbara Hawk and Sherri Sayre.
Funeral services will be held noon Saturday at Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, with the Revs. Terry Snyder and Garey McCartney officiating, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery, where Mr. Kuhn will be honored by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard for his service to our country.
