MINERAL RIDGE - Regina Dawn Burton, 47, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.
She was born June 24, 1965, in Mineral Ridge, the daughter of Willard and Jewell Burton.
Regina lived her whole life in Mineral Ridge and graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1983.
She enjoyed bringing joy to friends and family. Her humor and wit would always bring a smile to those around her. Although small in stature, she possessed the personality of a giant and could tame the meanest, comfort the grieving or cheer the saddest equally well in a short dispatch. She had a sign above her door that read, "Strays Welcome Here," and when asked she said, "I don't know how many I have helped more, the two- or four-legged ones." Selflessness best describes her life and devotion to others.
She provided loving care to her mother for many years before Jewell's passing in March 2011.
Regina was deeply loved by her family and is survived by two brothers, Glenn Thomas (Nancy) Burton of Ellsworth and John (Darcy) Burton of Germany. Keith Black, her close friend and companion, was the most significant person in her life.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home on Warren Avenue in Niles, where funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Brown officiating.
Family requests that memories and condolences be forwarded to John at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Burial will be Saturday in Kerr Cemetery.
