LEAVITTSBURG - Dorothy J. "Dee" Gumbert, 75, of Leavittsburg, went home to be with the Lord at 7:27 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
She was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Franklin Township, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles Guy and Mary Louvisa Cunningham McKahan.
Dee was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and retired in 1994 as an assembler at GE Ohio Lamp for 30-plus years.
Some of her hobbies included crocheting, playing sudoko, baking, golfing and bowling.
Survivors include her children, Matthew Gumbert Jr. of Hammond, Ind., Austin R. Gumbert of Leavittsburg, Bonnie Goyette of Hammond, Ind., and Lisa (Adam) Duncan of Warren; her nephews and nieces whom she raised, Russell (Nancy) Pickens of Girard, Pa., Thomas Pickens of Warren, Susan Robertson of Mansfield and Tina (John) Rogers of Warren; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Frank (MaryLou) McKahan of Garrettsville, Ivan "Ike" (Brenda) McKahan of Virginia, Guy "Roy" McKahan of Virginia and Genevieve "Skip" (James Sr.) Hupp of Elyria; and her two dogs and best friends, Miya Angel and Lily Rose.
Other than her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Gumbert Sr. on Aug. 29, 2006 - they were united in marriage on April 8, 1961; her siblings, John "Jack" McKahan, Charles McKahan, Mary "Onn" Rockwell and Martha "Jane" Pickens; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Gumbert will be entombed next to her husband in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren.
