John A. Rupp 1939-2012

CORTLAND - John Arthur Rupp, 73, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.

He was born on May 13, 1939, in Warren, the son of the late Harry Rupp and the late Martha Dinger Rupp.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was member of Mecca Community Church. He worked as an engineer in international sales for both Comstock Engineering and Wean United, where he retired from in 1991. John was also active in the Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed sailing and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Jane Karenke Rupp, whom he married on July 13, 1961; two sons, Thomas (Corrine) Rupp of Statesville, N.C., and Richard Allen (Deborah) Rupp of Middlefield; a daughter, Deborah (John Jr.) Blue of The Woodlands, Texas; and a sister, Jackie (Ron) Feller of Fort Wayne, Ind. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mecca Community Church in Cortland. Masonic services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, where the family will again receive friends from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in John's memory to the Mecca Community Church, 5920 Phillips Rice Road, Cortland, OH 44410.
