NORTH JACKSON - BP has leased 5,000 square foot of office and warehouse space here that will be used as the energy giant's Ohio base as it pursues oil and natural gas opportunities in northeast Ohio, company officials announced today.
The Youngstown Commerce Park location will serve the company for at least three years, with options to renew the lease for at least another six years, said BPs Ohio Operations Manager Joe Uppercue. Title searchers doing mineral rights research in Trumbull County will remain in a downtown Warren office in the Chase Bank Building, but BP officials said they felt it was vital to be more centrally located as the company looks to expand drilling operations in several counties south of Trumbull County. The new office location also provides quick access to Interstates 76 and 80, the officials said.
Uppercue said plans to begin drilling experimental wells in Trumbull County remain on track, with drilling on 10 wells expected to begin around April 1.
