The Tigers placed sixth out of 17 teams with 134 points. Parma finished first and Maple Heights was second.

Gabe Stark placed first at 152 pounds for Howland. He also won MVP honors, beating Melvin Johnson of Maple Heights, 7-2, for first place.

"He wrestled a great tournament," Howland coach Bill Beasom said. "He probably had the toughest bracket there. And he manhandled the kid in the finals. He dominated the match."

The Tigers' David-Brian Whisler placed first at 160 pounds, toppling Mike Coleman of Hudson in the finals, 5-2. Alex Cornicelli took third at 126 pounds, Cody Davis finished third at 170 pounds, Mike Bell placed third at 285, Donato Natale came in sixth place at 132 pounds and Josh Grodesky was sixth at 182.

The Tigers host Beaver Local at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Jackson-Milton finished 16th with 38 points. The Blue Jays' Mitch Tikkanen finished fifth at 106 pounds. At 113, Terry Stockton placed fifth, and at 220 pounds Corley Lamb came in sixth.

The Cardinals came in undefeated, but fell to 12-time, Division II Ohio state champions St. Paris Graham and Richmond High School (Mich.), four-time state champions in Michigan. Canfield placed third, beating Southeast, 62-3, in the consolation final. The Cardinals (10-2) beat Revere, 63-6, in the first round.

St. Paris Graham, which defeated Canfield, 69-9, in the semifinal round, won the meet. They topped Richmond, 50-24, for first place. Richmond edged Canfield, 41-21, in the second round. Revere beat Rootstown, 41-27, to claim fifth place.
