NEWTON - It may take several years, but township officials are working their way out of fiscal caution based on a five-year forecast submitted to the State Auditor.
The officials have spent a fair portion of their past year devoted to turning their deficits around and have been working closely with Local Government Services, part of the Auditor of the State office, after being placed in fiscal caution in early October. Fiscal Officer Susan Montgomery said the township will be working with LGS for at least the next two years.
"Turning deficits around is a long process," Montgomery said.
