NEWTON FALLS - Doris L. Stanley, 81, of Newton Falls, in the comfort of her daughter's residence and as her family gathered near, passed peacefully to rest Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.
She was born June 30, 1931, in Millwood, Va., the daughter of James and Agnes Hamilton Duke, and had been an area resident since 1945.
Doris was employed at Hillside Hospital for 11 years and was a resident manager of the Newton Village Apartments for 17 years.
She was a caring person and for many years provided in-home health care to those needing assistance.
On Jan. 19, 1956, Doris L. Duke and Richard Stanley were united in marriage. The couple were blessed with their daughter, Darlene.
Her favorite pastimes included working on puzzles, solving crossword puzzles and spending time with family.
Memories of Doris will be carried on by her loving and caring daughter, Darlene (Anthony) Mrvelj; her beloved grandchildren, Rachel (Steve) Parnell, Eric (Janice) Fluegge and Aaron Mrvelj; and her adored great-grandchildren, Blake Davis, Connor Davis, Piper Parnell, Brandon Fluegge and Tessa Fluegge.
Preceding Doris were her husband, Richard, who passed away Jan. 19, 1985; her parents; her sister; and her 11 brothers.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Dowler officiating.
Doris will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery in Newton Falls.
