WARREN - William A. "Bill" Brown, 81, died Thursday evening, Dec. 6, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
He was born March 29, 1931, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Dr. Dewees and Helen Horton Brown.
Bill was raised in Donora, Pa., and was a 1949 graduate of Donora High School. In 1953, he graduated from Carnegie Tech University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, Bill returned to Carnegie Tech and received his degree in printing management.

He began his career with Wean Engineering while in his final year of graduate school and retired from Wean as director of marketing services with over 30 years service. He then was self-employed and freelanced as Bill Brown Marketing.
As a youth and young man, he was active in scouting and earned both the Order of the Arrow and his Eagle Scout, among other awards.
He was an active member of Howland Community Church, where he served as deacon, elder, chairman of elders and chairman of the congregation. He was involved in the community with the Boy Scouts Western Reserve Council, the fine arts and the Warren City Schools, where he served on several levy committees. Bill also served as a board member of the United Way of Trumbull County.
An avid golfer, Bill enjoyed playing many of the major courses in the U.S. He loved the friendships and playing golf with the Thursday Morning Traveling League. He also enjoyed flower gardening.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Catherine D. "Kay" Driscoll Brown, whom he married Aug. 12, 1961; two daughters, Susan C. Brown of Baltimore and Jennifer H. (Dave) Lewis of Youngstown; and a beloved granddaughter, Nicole.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. D. H. "Deb" Brown.
The Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Howland Community Church, with the Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements were handled by Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel.
