Sutliff features holiday items

MUSEUM HOSTS HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: The Sutliff Museum, located on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, will hold a Christmas open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The museum's holiday decorations feature an authentic Victorian feather tree, silk Christmas greeting cards from the 1880s and Victorian Christmas tree decorated with strings of real popcorn. COOKIE / CRAFT SALE PLANNED IN GREENE: The Greene Historical Society will hold its annual cookie and craft sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Greene Town Hallon Durst Colebrook Road. The society is holding a Community Christmas at the town hall on Sunday. Santa will be in attendance.

CHOW CHOW EVENTS TO BENEFIT VALLEY: Area Howard Hanna offices are planning "Choo Choo Chow Chow" fundraising events to benefit the Free Care Fund which supports local children's hospitals throughout the region including Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley. Doctors Rock for Tots, the second annual Doctor's Battle of the Bands, is scheduled to begin 7 p.m. Friday at Rodeo Music Hall, 1743 Raccoon Road, Austintown. Advance tickets are available for $10, or $15 at the door. The event will include performances by local doctors. For tickets, call 330-702-8400.The money raised helps the families get medical treatment regardless of their family's ability to pay for care.

FOOD DRIVE BEING HELD: Master Park Martial Arts of Boardman, on Route 224 at Master Park Plaza, is holding a toy and non-perishable food drive from noon to 4 p.m. daily through Saturday. Those attending can bring toys and receive a gift certificate. The event will include demonstrations and bully prevention training. Local businesses are welcome to participate in the event and donate prize items. Call 330-965-9000.

EVENT TO FEATURE VENTRILOQUIST: St. Joseph Hospital Seniors will host a program at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the hospital, 667 Eastland Ave. The event will feature professional ventriloquist Helen Hammett. Cost is $4 per person with reservations needed by Friday at 330-841-4375 or 330-841-4376.

FARM BUREAU HAS PARTY: The Trumbull County Farm Bureau has set its annual Christmas Party for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Opera House, 152 Park Avenue, Cortland. The organization will provide fried chicken, table service and beverages. Members who attend are asked to bring their favorite covered dish. The Youngstown Connection will perform at 4 p.m. The effort will include collecting hats, gloves, scarves, coats and/or winter clothes to be given to local people in need. AGENCY HOLDS EVENT: Homes For Kids will provide treatment foster care to children who reside in the foster care system in Ohio. The agency is looking for caring families, or individuals, to become foster caregivers for local children. A pre-service question and answer session will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Homes For Kids, 46 N. Main St., Niles. No reservations are required to attend. The qualifications needed to be a foster caregiver are 21 or older, have a strong support system, able to handle stress and crisis situations, and be a resident of Ohio.
