CARDINAL MOONEY 39, SPRINGFIELD 35: NEW MIDDLETOWN - Yankle and Webber each scored 10 points apiece to lead the Cardinals past the Tigers.
Jillian Tabaka led all scorers with 13 points, and Callie Ford added 11 for Springfield (0-1). Kennedy Richey had 10 points.
Mooney (1-1) rallied from a 25-23 deficit to start the fourth quarter and outscored Springfield 16-10 in the final stanza.
WINDHAM 54, McDONALD 40: McDONALD - Dari Heller scored 15 of her game-high 17 points in a first half dominated by Windham, and the Bombers hit seven 3-pointers in a non-conference rout over McDonald.
Windham (1-1) led 41-17 at halftime. The Bombers' Jessica Isler hit two of her three 3-pointers in the first two quarters, finishing with 14 points. Brittany Knight provided 11.
Alyssa Streb and Tory Ross each scored 11 to pace McDonald (0-3), which outscored Windham, 23-13, in the second half.
JACKSON-MILTON 29, SOUTHERN 19: NORTH JACKSON - Jackson-Milton won a defensive battle with Southern thanks to a key second-quarter run.
Maggie Oblinger and Madison Tomaino each scored four of their game-high eight points in the second, when the Bluejays (2-0) outscored Southern, 12-5. Jackson-Milton recorded 28 steals, including 10 by Zaina Sahli and nine by Tomaino. Tomaino also finished with nine assists.
Kati Hitsley scored eight to pace the Indians, who scored just two points in the third quarter.
CANFIELD 53, LAKEVIEW 35: CORTLAND - A 35-18 second half was the difference in Thursday's non-conference game between Canfield and Lakeview.
The Bulldogs kept it close through the first half, only trailing by one point heading into halftime. However, the Cardinals came out firing in the second half and pulled away for the victory.
Sabrina Mangapora led all scorers with 18 points. She scored six of those in the fourth quarter. Canfield improved to 2-0 on the season.
Allie Pavlik paced Lakeview (1-2) with 14 points and three assists.
LORDSTOWN 63, PYMATUNING VALLEY 61: LORDSTOWN - The Red Devils trailed 61-60 with 45 seconds to play but scored the game's final three points.
Sarah Cash led Lordstown (2-0) with 19 points, including a free throw for the final point of the game. Ally Hajnosz had 12 and Kansas Lickwar and Sydney Negro each scored 10.
Kelsea Brown paced the Lakers (1-1) with 18 points. Megan Stech had 16 and Geena Gabriel added 11.
BRISTOL 69, MATHEWS 37: BRISTOL - The Panthers only led 32-29 at halftime, but outscored Mathews 37-8 in the final two quarters.
Kylie Stoneman had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Bristol (2-0, 2-0), Allyson Jones had 10 points and 19 boards, Megan Adams added 12 points and Abbie Pate scored 10.
Maddie Williams and Jacki Rhine each had 10 points for the Mustangs.
POLAND 47, GIRARD 33: GIRARD - The Indians led 17-14 through two quarters, but Poland ran away with this one thanks to a 33-16 edge in the second half?
Rachael Robertson and Aleah Hughes each had 17 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Miranda Boyle paced Girard with 14 points.
CHAMPION 64, BEAVER LOCAL 33: CHAMPION - The Golden Flashes got their first win of the season in emphatic fashion.
Mackenzie Kiser led Champion (1-1) with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Darian Rogers added 10 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and six assists, Gabby Lamont had 12 points and Jordyn Skaggs put in 11.
Samantha Bishop led Beaver Local (1-1) with 10 points.
NEWTON FALLS 48, NILES 35: NEWTON FALLS - Brooke Barreca led Newton Falls with a game-high 15 points as the Tigers won their opener.
Dannie King added 10 points and Alissa Abraham scored nine for Newton Falls (1-0).
Megan Morris paced Niles (1-1) with 10 points.
MAPLEWOOD 67, SOUTHINGTON 48: SOUTHINGTON - Maplewood took a 22-point halftime lead and cruised to victory.
Brooke Dawson led the Rockets with a game-high 20 points and 15 rebounds. Miranda Sloan scored 15 with 10 steals. Kendra Garlock registered 11 points and 11 boards and Allison Bell scored 14.
Rachel Wilson and Amber Dietz each had 14 points for Southington. Shelby Cameron put in 11.
