Thu. 1:14pm: Vienna gets clarification on money

YOUNGSTOWN - Vienna township trustees and fiscal officer met this morning with three members of the state auditor's office in Youngstown to discuss how to use the $3.7 million inheritance tax that the township received at the beginning of the year.

"We discussed regulations and any restrictions on how to spend the money," Trustee Heidi Brown said.

According to Brown, the meeting went well and helped clear up any of the trustees' misunderstandings. Brown said she and other trustees had been under the impression that the money had to be spent in five years, but that according to the members of the auditor's office this was not the case.

"We can put it away in a capital improvement fund," Brown said, "but the purchases must last five years."
