Joshua Lee Smith 1978-2012

YOUNGSTOWN - Joshua Lee Smith, 34, of Youngstown, died early Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2012, in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Health Center Boardman.

He was born April 22, 1978, in Warren, the son of Rick L. Smith and Janet M. Williams Onatz.

Joshua was a 2000 graduate of Champion High School. He worked at the Purple Cat workshop in Coitsville and the Fairhaven Workshop in Champion. He was a member of the Golden String Bowling League.

Joshua enjoyed bowling, basketball and collecting clocks. He loved his cat, Oreo.

Joshua is survived by his mother and stepfather, Janet M. (John J.) Onatz of Warren; his father and stepmother, Rick L. (Linda C.) Smith of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; one sister, Keri (Jeff) Scheid of Hilliard; stepsiblings, Valerie Barnes and Tom Barnes both of North Tonawanda; one nephew, Graham Scheid; his grandmothers, Barbara Williams and Marilyn Smith, both of Cortland; and his roommate and adopted brother, Matt Dreyfus of Youngstown.

His two grandfathers, James Williams and Emerson Smith, have both preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Farmer Casey's Ranch (the Purple Cat), 4738 McCartney Road, Coitsville Center, where the family will greet friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Purple Cat, 4738 McCartney Road, Lowellville, OH 44436.
