Wed., 11:20am: Youngstown killer asks for release

YOUNGSTOWN -- A man serving a 13-year sentence for a West Side shooting death has asked for judicial release.

Raymond Crites, 39, filed the motion Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. He pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter with a firearm specification in April 2004 for the June 2003 shooting death of John Deiley in a Steel Street home.

At the time of the plea, prosecutors agreed not to oppose a request of judicial release.
