Wed., 11:18am: Youngstown pays Girard $50,000

November 21, 2012
Tribune Chronicle |

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Board of Control today approved a payment of more than $50,000 to the city of Girard.

The payment is part of the terms of the agreement the city reached with Girard over the Joint Economic Development District created for the V&M Star expansion project, which required some land from Girard to be annexed to Youngstown for the project.

Under the agreement, the city agreed to pay 50 percent of withholding taxes from the site to Girard after the first $1 million was collected by Youngstown. The payments will take place as long as the JEDD is in place.
