CHRISTMAS WALK PLANNED IN FOWLER: The Fowler Community Christmas Walk will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Events will take place at the Fowler Fire Station, community center, historic town hall and road department. Local businesses will also be open, as will the Fowler Historical Society's Butts Family Museum, corner of state Routes 193 and 305.
CHILI COOKOFF PLANNED: The Mathews Choral Department will host a chili cook-off event from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 30 before the first boys' home basketball game in the Mathews High School cafeteria, 4429 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna. There will be different homemade chilis with crackers, a small bowl for $1 and a regular bowl for $3. Each participant will be given a token to vote for their favorite chili. Beverages and desserts are also available for purchase. The regular concession stand will open at 5:30 p.m. Baskets will also be on display with tickets available for the basket raffle. The baskets will be raffled at the winter concert at 7 p.n. Dec. 12. All proceeds will go to the choral department to help with yearly expenses. Call 330-394-1138.
HELPING THE MISSION: The West Corporation this week donated a truck load of food and a monetary donation to Warren Family Mission. West Corporation and its employees held a fundraiser to help support the holiday outreach projects. The mission picked up the items this week in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
TREE LIGHTING SEEKS DONATIONS: Bristol Township is planning its annual tree lighting event for Nov. 25 which includes a Christmas tree display. Donations are being sought to help with the Park Lighting Fund which allows the annual project to continue. Donations can be sent to Bristol Township Trustees, P.O. Box 254, Bristolville, OH 44402. CHRISTMAS AT BARNHISEL HOUSE: Christmas at the Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St., Girard, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9. The theme is "Christmas Trees Through the Ages." Trees throughout the home will be decorated using ornaments from late 1800s to 1960s. There will a feather tree, aluminum tree, nature tree, Coca-Cola tree, Victorian trees, an old economy tree with 3-D paper ornaments and others. Refreshments, Christmas music on the organ and guides dressed in period costume will welcome guests. Guests can also purchase a 2013 calendar or note cards with photos from Girard's history.
