CORTLAND - Sarah A. O'Rourke, 76, entered peacefully into eternal rest at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 25, 1936, in Warren, the daughter of the late Patrick B. and Pauline Callahan O'Rourke, and was a lifelong area resident.
Sarah was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School, Class of 1954, and attended Mount Mercy College in Pittsburgh.
She was a bank teller with the former Union Savings and Trust Company (Woodland Branch) in Warren for 28 years, retiring from her duties in 1984.
Sarah was a member of St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church in Cortland and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her close friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, along with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jane O'Rourke; and four brothers, Daniel, Keith, Patrick and Lawrence "Larry" O'Rourke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church in Cortland, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Officiating will be the Rev. Thomas McCarthy.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Warren.
