YOUNGSTOWN - The mother of the man killed in a shooting last February at an off-campus fraternity was not happy with Mark Jones' guilty plea today.

Shirlene Hill, mother of 25-year-old Jamail Johnson, also said she was upset that no one informed her of the plea hearing until about 15 minutes before it was to begin.

Mark Jones, 21, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of murder along with 10 counts of felonious assault and faces a sentence of at least 10 years in prison with no opposition to judicial release after five years.

His brother, Columbus Jone, 23, was convicted of murder and 11 counts of felonious assault and was sentenced to 92 years in prison in August for the shooting at the Indiana Avenue fraternity home that also wounded 11 people over a dispute at a party.

"Ten years?" she said. "Give me a break."
