DEAR EDITOR:
I was not able to attend a project for Make a Difference Day. I would like to say that I would have volunteered if I was not scheduled to work.
But, given the weather, it would have been hard to find the motivation to show up on a day like Saturday. Make a Difference day was first held 20 years ago on Feb. 29, 1992. Given the nationwide involvement this event garners, cold climates, would it not be a good idea to move the date to a warmer month?
If the date could be moved from the original date, surely it could be moved to increase participation. On a more local level, perhaps the picnic that the Tribune holds would be better in the evening when more projects would be complete, giving a larger number of volunteers the opportunity to enjoy. I would like to thank all the volunteers who made it out to brave the weather.
