LISBON The body of a man found Wednesday morning by a group of Mennonite loggers near the "ski slope" area of state Route 45 has been identified as an East Liverpool mental health patient missing since June.

Sheriff Ray Stone confirmed Friday afternoon that the body found was that of Donald T. McCauley, 44, who had been most recently staying at the Kendall House, a mental health facility on the campus of the Columbiana County Counseling Center in Lisbon.

He had been transported by ambulance June 10 to Salem Community Hospital emergency room, from which he was released the same day. He called the Kendall House, and arrangements were made to pick up McCauley by taxi cab.

An hour later, he reportedly called back and said he was tired of waiting for the cab and planned to walk back to Lisbon. McCauley had not been seen nor heard from since and was officially reported missing June 21.

A Carrollton man, his two brothers and two cousins were walking the isolated property west of state Route 45 and north of Teegarden Road in preparation for timbering it when one of them saw the body over a hillside and called the sheriff's office.
