WARREN - The suspect in a Monday afternoon standoff with police has been charged with aggravated menacing.
Maurice Bryant, 24, 146 Kenmore Ave. N.E., is accused of shooting a pellet or BB gun at a van driven by an employee of an appliance rental business then keeping police at bay for nearly one hour.
Martha Doyle of Vernon Sales and Rental said she arrived at Bryant's home to repossess a television. After a brief confrontation, according to reports, pellets were fired at Doyle's van, hitting the windshield near her head about 2:30 p.m.
Officers surrounded the house after Bryant and two others refused to come out of the house. Kenmore, between East Market Street and Montclair Street N.E., was closed to traffic for less than an hour while a negotiator convinced Bryant and two others to come out of the house.
The other two people in the house have not been charged.
It was not immediately clear when Bryant may appear in court.
