Mon. 11:11am: Traffic to be affected by Biden visit

YOUNGSTOWN - The visit of Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton to the Covelli Centre today will affect traffic and parking.

According to police Chief Rod Foley, here are some things to keep in mind:

1. There will be no parking permitted on Front Street from South Avenue to Phelps Street;

Walnut Street will be blocked off from Boardman Street to Front However, there will be vehicle access provided to the Post Office.

2. Champion Street will be blocked from Boardman Street to Front. Market Street and South Avenue near downtown will be open, except for a brief closure.

3. All motorists should use the North, East and West approaches in and out of downtown to avoid delays. Early morning traffic will not be affected by the visit. Motorists can commute to work as normal.

4. All parking decks and surface lots will be open and available for public parking. All attendees should allow ample time to access parking. Parking will be limited at the center. Access to this parking will be available from the Phelps Street entrance off of Front St.

The chief of police here is advising drivers to be prepared for changes to traffic and parking patterns today.

Residents and visitors to the city of Youngstown, as you are aware on Monday October 29, 2012 Vice President Joe Biden along with former President Bill Clinton will be visiting the Covelli Center at 3:00pm. This will cause some disruptions to the normal traffic flow into and out of the Downtown area.
