YOUNGSTOWN - Catherine Ferenchak, 89, of Youngstown, died on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at the Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles.
She was born on March 3, 1923, in Cokeburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Vasil Sekula and the late Maria Turkinjak Sekula.
Catherine had worked at General Electric for many years.
She was a quick-witted and feisty woman who always enjoyed a good time. She loved to dance and travel, but mostly, her greatest joy came from the time that she spent with her family.
Catherine is survived by eight nephews, Joseph (Colleen) Sekula, Michael (Allison) Sekula, Edward Sopko, William Sekula, Thomas Sekula, Francis Comet, Michael Yandura and David (Jackie) Yandura; and by 11 nieces, Debra (Mark) Gregoire, Kathleen (John) Shinosky, Janet (Eugene) Vallozzi, Libby (Randall) Martini, Judith Sopko, Linda Sekula Stevens, Juliann Furda, Mary Sue Dziak, Annette Dziak, Cynthia Zabrucky Athya and Maryann (Dennis) McElfresh. Also surviving are numerous great-nieces and -nephews, and several great-great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ann Dziak, Mary Zabrucky, Julia Sopko and Helen Yandura, and by three brothers, William, John and Joseph Sekula.
A private family memorial service was held and burial will be at the SS. Peter and Paul Church Cemetery.
