SCOPE OFFERING CLASSES: The Warren SCOPE Center, 220 W. Market Street, is offering tap dancing lessons for Trumbull County seniors 60 or older on Friday mornings. All skill levels are invited to participate.
The class is scheduled for 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A chair tap class is scheduled from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for beginners. The cost for the chair tap class is $1 per session. The tap dance class cost is $2.50 per session.
Fall computer classes are being scheduled at the Warren center for Trumbull County seniors. An introductory orientation class is slated for 10 a.m. to noon today.
Those who have laptops are encouraged to bring them to class. The cost is $2 per session, payable at the door.
The center invites Trumbull County seniors who are interested in playing pool to join its newly formed league. Play begins on Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Senior men and women of all skill levels are invited. Free lessons will be provided. This league is for recreation only.
Warren Rotary's blood analysis event will be held Saturday at the SCOPE center. Testing will be from 7 to 10 a.m. and cost is $36 per person. It will include a chemistry profile, CBC profile and urine testing. Results will be mailed to each participant, who must fast for 12 hours prior to testing. Also, no alcoholic beverages must be consumed 24 hours before testing.

OSHIIP OFFERS "MEDICARE CHECK-UP": The Ohio Department of Insurance's Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) is holding a free "Medicare Checkup" only event at 10 a.m. Monday at the Youngstown Senior Center, 1110 5th Ave., Youngstown. The event coincides with Medicare's Dec. 7 annual enrollment period deadline. The session is intended to help people review changes to Medicare and determine their best coverage option for 2013.
OSHIIP recently celebrated its 20th anniversary as Medicare's designated educational program in Ohio for beneficiaries, family members and health care professionals.
In addition to the statewide checkup events, people can call OSHIIP at 800-686-1578 with questions or for enrollment assistance. A special department Medicare check-up and open enrollment toolkit, which includes a list of plans, financial assistance information and an events schedule, is available at www.insurance.ohio.gov. At the events, beneficiaries can learn about recent changes to Medicare such as the new Medicare deductibles, co-pay and coinsurance amounts, Medicare Advantage and Part D plan options for 2013 and about financial assistance programs. Attendees should bring their prescription drug list with dosages and preferred pharmacy and information on retirement coverage, Veteran's Administration (VA) or other medical care benefits they receive.

SCOPE HALLOWEEN PARTY: The annual Halloween party at the Niles SCOPE Senior Center will be held Wednesday. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. with a costume contest to follow. Everyone who wears a costume will receive a free bingo card at the 1 p.m. bingo game.

The Senior Center is offering free beginning computer course for those age 60 or older. The classes will be held Nov. 5, 7, and 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The course will cover basic computer and basic Internet use. The program is offered through the State of Ohio, "Connect Ohio" Program.

HOWLAND RETIREES TO MEET: Howland Schools Retirees will meet at 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at Enzo's Restaurant on Elm Road, Warren. Cupcakes will be served for dessert in honor of a special retiree's 94th birthday. All retired school employees, spouses/guests are invited to join in for a time of good food and fellowship with fellow retirees at the monthly meetings. Cost of the lunch is $10, payable at the door.
