YOUNGSTOWN - The Rev. Clarence A. Murray Sparkey, 89, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Park Vista Nursing Home.
Mr. Sparkey was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Youngstown, the son of James and Emma Washington Murray.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1943 and was an associate minister at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Janie Sheldon of Columbus, Ga., Clarence A. Murray Jr. of Hartford, Conn., Dorothy West of Ann Arbor, Mich., John and Douglas Murray, both of New York, Irene Murray of Duarte, Calif., Lynda Thomas of Altadena, Calif., and Mark Murray of Duarte; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Norman Murray.
A funeral service will be held at noon today at Washington Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon.
Interment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
