Thomas H. Sullinger 1934-2012

KINSMAN - Thomas Homer Sullinger, 77, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Warren, the son of Clarence Sullinger and Lydia Barnard Sullinger Smith.

He retired from the former Van Huffel Sheet and Tube in Warren after working 35 years as a mill operator.

Mr. Sullinger was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War as an aviation mechanic.

He was of the Baptist faith, attending the Calvary Bible Church in Cortland. He was very active in his faith and was always willing to help anyone.

He helped the Kinsman American Legion place flags for Memorial Day. He liked all sports. He coached youth baseball and basketball. He was a member of the Fowler Historical Society and was a former treasurer for the Fowler Alumni Association.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Wells Sullinger, whom he married Aug. 15, 1959; a daughter, Barb (Wallace) Phillips of Vernon; a son, the Rev. Thomas (Robin) Sullinger of Danville, Ark.; six grandchildren, Nadine Grady, Thomas Sullinger Jr., Jacob and Lydia Sullinger, and Jacob and Jamie Phillips; one great-grandchild, Jarett Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Galloway-Onstott Funeral Home, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford, OH 44424. Friends and relatives may call from 3 to 5 p.m.Sunday and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Vernon.

The family sends a special "thank you" to the sixth floor ICU unit at Trumbull Memorial and to all the nurses at the Hope Center in Howland. They also ask that material donations be sent in his name to the American Cancer Society, Northeast Region, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406, or to the Calvary Bible Church Building Fund, 4511 Mahoning Ave. Warren, OH 44483.
