VIENNA - William "Bill" John Mitzel Jr., 67, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
He was born July 25, 1945, in Youngstown, the son of William J. and Catherine D. Carney Mitzel.
After 35 years of dedicated service, Bill retired in 2004 from Delphi Packard Electric, where he also served as shop steward, representing his co-workers for many years.

He was a 1963 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a member of the Bloom Hunting Camp and the Young Democratic Club of Snowshoe, Pa.
Bill is survived by his wife of 29 years, Karen Jones, whom he married March 26, 1983; one son, Robert Mitzel of Liberty; three daughters, Carol Lynn (Vince) Cordy, Dawn Silvers and Denna (Mark) Schneider, all of Vienna; six grandchildren, Christine, Vince, Matt, Catherine, Jeremy and Faith; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Mitzel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Michael (Chrysann) Mitzel of Canfield; and three sisters, Catherine Ann (John) Dittmar of Tucson, Ariz., Eileen Scullen of Delaware, Ohio, and Jeanne Lowry of Poland.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb, and by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St., Cortland, OH 44410, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time.
