NEWTON TOWNSHIP - Dennis Alan Hawkins Sr., 59, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at his home.
Born July 8, 1953, in Warren, he was the son of the late Wayne Garth Hawkins and the late Joan Reedy Hawkins, and was a lifetime area resident.
A 1971 graduate of Jackson-Milton High School, Dennis was a talented football player and was proud to have been a four-year letterman. He was inducted into the Jackson-Milton High School Athletic Hall of Fame for football in 1999.

Dennis enjoyed a long career in sales, primarily focused within the telecommunications and legal services industries. As a Master Mason with the Argus Lodge 545 in Canfield, he was active with his lodge and dedicated to various community and civic events.
Dennis was a patented inventor as well as a published author. He enjoyed golfing and music and was an avid local and collegiate sports enthusiast.
He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors grilling with family and friends, and always loved a great bonfire. Dennis was intelligent as well as eloquent and had a sharp sense of humor.
He is survived by his two children, Autumn R. (Brett) Pizzuto of Powell and Dennis A. Hawkins Jr. of Youngstown; his former spouse, Kathleen A. Hawkins of Dublin; four brothers, Dale E. (Alice) Hawkins of Boardman, Douglas M. Hawkins of Warren, and Scott N. Hawkins and Brian K. Hawkins, both of Lake Milton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Beth A. Hawkins; a brother, David E. Hawkins; and his sister, Tracey L. Hawkins.
According to Dennis' wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren.
Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Celebrant Randy Pappa will officiate the service.
