NEWTON FALLS - Mary B. Sorocak, 100, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home with her loving family at her side.
On Oct. 1, 1912, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Joseph and Anna Malik Bralek welcomed the birth of their daughter, Mary.
John and Mary Bralek Sorocak were united into marriage on Aug. 11, 1934, and from this union they had four children, Michael, Barbara, Mary Joan and Cathie Jean.
Mary was a lifetime area resident and a parishioner of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and a lifetime honorary member. She also was a member of St. Joseph Senior Citizens. Mary retired as a dental assistant for Hershel Cooper DDS. She was past president of the American Dental Assistants Association.
In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, quilting and embroidery, gardening and World Day of Prayer.
Memories of Mary will be cherished and carried on by her son, Michael (Sally) Sorocak of Mobile, Ala.; daughters, Barbara Sorocak Gillam of Newton Falls, Mary Joan (Tom) Knowles of Fowler and Cathie Jean (Dr. Ted) Robertson of Sharon Center; a brother, Steve Bralek of Akron; four grandchildren, Rebecca Knowles, Miranda McLinden, Jeff Sorocak and Susan Sorocak Swing; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband in 1962; sisters, Agnes Mollick and Julia Costello; and brothers, Michael and Joseph Bralek.
Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Borowski Memorial Home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Joseph Cemetery.
