Katherine Melnick, the Warren woman brutally beaten and blinded by Death Row inmate Andre Williams 24 years ago, died Tuesday in Meridian Arms Nursing Center.
Melnick was in her early 60s when Williams beat Melnick and killed her husband George. Earlier this month, U.S. Northern District Judge Donald Nugent denied Williams' claim that he is mentally disabled and unfit for the death penalty.
