October 17, 2012
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com

YOUNGSTOWN - Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge R. Scott Krichbaum today agreed to have grand jury transcripts prepared in the case of a man facing the death penalty for the murder of an 8-year-old boy.

Krichbaum partially agreed with a request by attorneys for Shawn Wilson, 21, of Browning Street, to have the transcripts of witness' testimony prepared.

However, the judge will not allow attorneys Ed Hartwig and Ron Yarwood to review the transcripts before trial. The transcripts will be kept under seal and will only be reviewed by attorneys during the trial if Krichbaum rules that trial testimony is inconsistent from their testimony before the grand jury.

Wilson is accused of n the death of Bryce Linebaugh, 8, who was killed Aug. 20 by a bullet fired from an assault rifle as Linebaugh slept in his bed in his parent's apartment. Wilson could get the death penalty if he is convicted of Linebaugh's death.
