WARREN - U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force early today arrested a suspect in Warren's latest homicide.

David Martin is accused of killing Jeremy Cole and the wounding of Melissa Putnam, both of Warren, on Sept. 27, in a house on Oak Circle S.W. Martin's last known address was on Belmont.

He was arrested without incident about 8:30 a.m. in Tallmadge at the home of a friend, according to Deputy U.S. Marshal Bill Boldin.

Boldin said Martin had a handgun with him and other evidence.

Marshals brought Martin back to Warren, and he is now in the Trumbull County Jail.

Police reports said Cole, 21, was shot and killed at 2220 Oak Circle S.W. Putnam was shot in the hand.

Since the shooting, detectives reported that Putnam also sustained a gunshot to the neck after the same bullet pierced the hand.

She has since been released from a local hospital.

Cole's death was the fourth reported homicide in Warren this year and the first since July 15 when a teenage girl was gunned down on Hamilton Street S.W.
