Tribune Chronicle |

The 3-year-old boy in the back seat of a stolen car in Niles was found around 5:30 this morning on the southwest side of Warren. The driver is in police custody.

The car was taken around 11 p.m. from 512 St. John St., in Niles with Michael Babuko Jr., in the back seat. Police issued an Amber Alert around midnight and began a car-by-car and door-to-door search.

An off duty Warren police officer spotted the car on Tod Avenue. The boy is unharmed and has been reunited with his family. One suspect, who police report was intoxicated, is in Trumbull County Jail.

Police say the theft was random. It occurred while the boy's father, intending to stop home briefly, left the vehicle idling while the boy slept inside. The car was stolen while the father was in the house.
