For decades, Trumbull County residents have fought battles and claimed victories on behalf of their country.
Since 2003, the Tribune Chronicle has highlighted the stories of many of these heroes and heroines on the pages of the Trumbull County newspaper. These stories will be featured in "Valor and Sacrifice," a book designed to honor individuals who have served America in the armed forces.
"The stories are amazing," said Beky Davis, Tribune Chronicle graphic designer and production editor. "They're amazing stories about amazing people."
The collection features more than 200 stories written by Tribune Chronicle staff between 2003 and 2011. These stories are based on 217 interviews with Trumbull County veterans.
The hard-cover book, with 424 full color pages, includes photographs taken by newspaper staff as well as pictures provided by the veterans. There are also photographs from the National Archives included in the coffee-table sized book.
Sue Shafer, Tribune Chronicle community events coordinator, said a limited number of books are available, and they may be preordered through the newspaper, saving $5 off the regular price of $39.95.
