Join traveling tea party

CORTLAND PLANS TRAVELING TEA PARTY: The Cortland Specialty Shops will host a fall traveling tea party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at local businesses and shops where various teas, ciders and treats will be served with ''traveling tea glass.'' The cost is $10 per person, which includes a gift bag of goodies, a map of all shops and menu, and nine locations each serving a different type of tea or cider and treat. EVENT TO HELP GIRL BATTLING LEUKEMIA: London's Leukemia Bridge second annual Masquerade Ball will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngs-town. Tickets are $15 with dinner at 7 p.m. The event includes line dancing, raffles and 50-50. London Hairston, a sixth-grader at the Akiva Academy, is a survivor of leukemia.

CORPS TO HOLD TOYS FOR TOTS FUNDRAISER: The United States Marine Corps second annual Toys for Tots 5K / Cookout will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Imagination Station Park, Bazetta. Race day registration is 8 to 9:30 a.m. Cost is $20, with pre-registration due by Tuesday and $25 registration after Tuesday. The event includes raffles, food, bounce house and music. HUBBARD PLANS PARADE: Hubbard schools will hold the annual Homecoming parade at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the high school student parking lot. The parade will travel from the lot and continue to the old Roosevelt School parking along Stewart Avenue. There will be a variety of booths and tents for school organizations. Student council is selling blue T-shirts for the event's ''blue out.''

CENTER MAKES PRESENTATION: The Home Savings Charitable Foundation recently presented $5,000 to the OH WOW! The Rodger and Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science and Technology. The foundation pledged to make a donation to the center each time the Mahoning Valley Scrappers won a game.

GROUP PLANS CARD PARTY: The Women's Altar and Rosary Guild of St. Thomas the Apostle Church Community, 4453 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, will sponsor their annual card party from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 14. There will be more than 100 door prizes, table prizes, Chinese raffle and lunch. Attendees are asked to bring their own cards or table games. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any guild member. Donation is $5.

ASSOCIATION HOLDS PROGRAM: The Portage County Human Resource Association will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 at Maplewood Career Center, 7075 state Route 88, Ravenna. This month's topic is "What Do We Do With Obamacare in 2013?" with speaker Kevin Bang, vice president of USI.
