Bliss Hall concert to feature sax-piano duo

Guest artists Jeffrey Loeffert and Jun Okada will perform tonight at Youngs-town State University.

Loeffert, an assistant professor of saxophone at Oklahoma State University, is an active chamber musician. As a founding member of the h2 quartet, he has won numerous chamber music prizes including first place honors at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition and the Union Francaise des Artistes Musiciens Chamber Music Competition in France.

Loeffert is featured on six CDs, one DVD and has appeared on an episode of the PBS series ''Backstage Pass.'' He has degrees from Northwestern University and Michigan State University and studied in Paris at the Conservatoire a Rayonnement Regional de Cergy-Pontoise.

Pianist Okada averages more than 100 concerts a year as a soloist, in duo ensembles and as a chamber music specialist. A native of Hiroshima, Japan, she began her musical studies at Yamaha Music School and received the bachelor's and master's degrees from Michigan State University.

The recital will feature works by Pierre-Philippe Bauzin, Benjamin Fuhrman and Henri Tomasi.
