CORTLAND - Joan E. Thomas, 83, died at 4:06 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at University Hospital in Cleveland of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Joan was born May 12, 1929, in Meadville, Pa., the daughter of Ralph and Marie Eves.
Joan graduated in 1946 from Meadville High School and came to Warren in 1958.
She retired from Paige & Burns Insurance agency as the office manager and also held a Certified Public Commission of Underwriters Certificate.
Joan belonged to St. Robert Catholic Church in Cortland.
She did volunteer work at Hillside Hospital for 23 years, she was avid golfer, and enjoyed playing cards and attending her grandchildren's athletic and 4-H events.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Thomas, whom she married Sept. 20, 1952; children, Robin (Larry) Robinson Jr. of Cortland and Daniel "Danny" (Brenda) Thomas of Windsor, Colo.; and grandchildren, Lawreace and Larry Robinson III, and Bradley and Christy Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Eves.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Robert Church in Cortland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Robert Church with the Rev. Carl Kish officiating.
Entombment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
