Daniel E. Vigorito Sr. 1944-2012

WARREN -Daniel E. Vigorito Sr., 67, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center surrounded by his family after a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 14, 1944, in Warren the son of Joseph and Nina Liberator Vigorito.

Dan was a 1962 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, employed at General Motors Lordstown for 30 years, retiring in 2001, and was a United States Marine Corps veteran.

He enjoyed dancing, gardening, golfing, traveling, casinos, music and singing.

He had several rental properties that he enjoyed remodeling for the past 25 years.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all of Ohio's teams: the Buckeyes, Indians, Cavaliers and Browns.

Dan will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dependability, punctuality and involvement in his children's lives and activities. He coached several of their sports teams and rarely missed any of their extra-curricular activities and events.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Tina Koupiaris Vigorito, whom he married Oct. 7, 2004; four sons, Charles (Robyn) Vigorito of Aurora, Colo., Daniel E. Vigorito Jr. of Bradford, Pa., Nathan (Traci) Vigorito of Niles and Joshua Vigorito of Warren; two daughters, Lyda Vigorito of Niles, Lisa (Gary) Dodge of Geneva; a stepson, Anthony Cardarelli of Howland; a stepdaughter, Renae (Eric) Hoso of Howland; four brothers, Joseph (Carol) Vigorito of Champion, Anthony Vigorito of Niles, Michael (Sherry) Vigorito of Statesville, N.C., and Nicholas (Karen) Vigorito of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Carole Dellinger of Niles, Sandra Jennings of Warren, Carmella (John) Ruman of Niles; six grandchildren, Christina Vigorito, Nino Vigorito, Evan Davis, Marin Davis, Gia Hoso and Frankie Hoso; a great-granddaughter, Brynlee Ray and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Vigorito; his brother, Raymond Vigorito, and his parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Donald P. Barnes officiating.

Cremation has taken place, and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren where Dan will be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.

The family wishes to thank the St. Joseph Health Center 6th floor for their compassionate care.
