Veterans of the Vietnam War held the second-annual Laying of the Roses ceremony Friday during Trumbull County's POW-MIA Recognition Day observance at noon on Courthouse Square. The names of 59 Vietnam War casualties and three Operation Iraqi Freedom casualties were read as veterans and family members placed red roses on a table that held four U.S. flags.

Paul Brady of Champion, who was wounded while serving in the 1st Infantry Division in 1966-67, says the ceremony both honors those who served and reminds people to protect their freedoms by helping those who are serving in today’s military.
