Charles and Janet Zander Sr. of Niles celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 18, 2012, with a dinner at the Chophouse Restaurant in Warren.
Charles Zander and the former Janet DiCesare were married Aug. 18, 1962, at St. Rose Church in Girard.
They have three children, Brenda of Niles, Charles Jr. (Patty) of Vienna and Michael of Brookfield. They also have five grandchildren.

Charles is semi-retired. He has worked for Sparkle Super Markets since 1956, serving as a store manager, a supervisor and a store owner. He was president of the Sparkle organization, and will continue to work with his children at the Poland Giant Eagle store.
Janet was a beautician in Girard in the early 1960s, then a stay-at-home mom.
