NILES - Benjamin Franklin Jones, 74, died at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Briarfield at the Ridge.
He was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Niles, the son of Benjamin Harlow and Nora Elizabeth Welsh Jones.
Ben worked as a laborer at U.S. Steel for 20 years.
He attended the First Baptist Church of Niles and enjoyed art, golfing and sports.
He was a veteran of the Army Corp. of Engineers.
He is survived by three brothers, Donald Harlow Jones of Niles, Michael Edward Jones of Niles and Douglas Jones of Girard; four sisters, Elaine Starinchak of Westerville, Mary Margret Jones of Cleveland, Maureen Jones of Niles and Deborah Jones of Niles; 15 nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathleen Davis of Austintown and Norma Jean DePizzo of Liberty; and two nephews, Douglas M. Jones Jr. of Girard and Andrew J. Starinchak of Westerville.
As per Ben's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will take place at noon on Monday at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles, 330-652-2422.
Burial will be at St. Stephen Cemetery.
