MONTVILLE - James R. Bechtel Sr., 80, of Montville for the past five years and previously of Vernon, died on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1931, in Kittanning, Pa., the son of James and Mina Bechtel.
Jim retired from Packard Electric, where he was active in the union organization.
He is survived by three sons, Dan (Aundrea) Bechtel of Gustavus, J.R. (Carla) Bechtel of Vernon and John Bechtel of Montville; a daughter, Stormi (Barry) Stuler of Charlotte, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; his parents, James and Mina Bechtel; a daughter, Terri Bechtel; a brother, Abe Bechtel; and a sister, Mayme Sigler.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at East Mecca Cemetery, with Pastor Fred Blauser of Cortland Church of the Nazarene officiating.
