Armeta E. Cordell 1929-2012

NILES - Armeta E. Cordell, 83, of Bowman Street, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at her residence.

Mrs. Cordell was born Aug. 8, 1929, the daughter of Harold and Josephine Porter Lisdell, spending her lifetime in the area. The valedictorian of the class of 1947 at Mineral Ridge, she began her banking career immediately with the former Dollar Bank. She later became an assistant secretary and bank officer for Security Dollar Bank. At the age of 80, following 62 years of service, she retired from Farmers Bank where she made so many friends.

Armeta is survived by a daughter, Linda Lehman (Frederick "Rick") Huber, who was her comfort in the last days and with whom she had made her home; her only grandson and "the apple of her eye," Matthew Lehman of Niles; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Lisdell of Canfield, whom Armeta treated as a sister; several nieces and nephews; and her two great-grand puppies, Whiskers and Willow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Cordell, in July of 1993, to whom she was married in April of 1952; and two brothers, Harold Jr. and David "Dick" Lisdell.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, where the Rev. Tim Cain will officiate. Friends and family may call for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to the Niles City Relay for Life Team, c/o 411 Brown St., Niles, OH 44446.
