Gregory Philip Bickel 1958-2012

CORTLAND - Gregory Philip Bickel, 54, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, in Brady, Pa., due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

He was born Feb. 22, 1958, in Warren, the son of Samuel P. and Doris Smith Bickel of Champion.

Philip was a 1976 graduate of Champion High School and attended Youngstown State University. He was employed as a machinist at CMI Industries in Chagrin Falls for the last five years.

Phil's hobbies were hunting and fishing, but his heart was at his cabin near DuBois, Pa. He also loved spending time with his grandson, Tristram Rush.

Other than his parents and grandson, Phil is survived by his wife, the former Kim Flynn, whom he married May 23, 1981; two children, Adam Gregory Bickel and Ashley Erin Bickel, both of Cortland; four siblings, Randy (Judy) Bickel of Cortland, R. Bradley (Rebecca) Bickel of Cortland, Charlene (Terry) Chapin of Bristol and Delinda Bickel of Champion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins with whom he was very close.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where a 6 p.m. memorial service will follow. Dr. Wayne Ayotte will celebrate Philip's life.
