As I watched the news on WFMJ I noticed that we got to hear the words ''assault weapon'' probably 10 times in a segment that lasted maybe one minute. I didn't hear anything about where you might be able to help the family. I believe there was a brief mention of a suspect.
I listened to local talk radio 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. the next day and heard nothing but anti-gun and AK-47 probably 40 more times. I wonder how these people feel good about themselves taking advantage of a little boy's death to push a political agenda. I even heard the radio person read out of a paper comments from the police about how horrible the wound was because it was from an assault rifle and looked like a military wound.
Is that to say that if the wound was barely noticeable that it would have been OK? Outrageous. Why weren't they talking about how the suspect had been arrested eight times in the last three years, at least one of them being a previous gun charge? Why was he out on probation? Is it not obvious that if he didn't learn the seven prior times that maybe he needs to be in prison where he can't shoot children.
Youngstown wants to stop gun violence and had a group of gangsters come listen to a mother speak. How about they enforce the law and put idiot criminals in jail after the first time they get caught instead of the ninth time. Then because they fail to do their job properly all the law abiding citizens should lose their gun rights? Why are these prosecutors and judges failing to do their jobs still getting votes?
It's time to start blaming who is really responsible for these crimes, criminals and negligent prosecutors and judges, and stop blaming guns. Just look at the shooting in Newton Falls shortly after the Fourth of July for another disgusting example of this.
